J Marie Dance Center Classes

  • All leveled classes without an age notated are for 7+. Age is a guideline and does not confirm placement in a class. Must be age required as of 9/1.

  • Some classes have eligibility requirements.

  • Note: Ballet is the foundation of DANCE!!!

  • It may be recommended or you may choose to take a dance level for more than one year to improve your technique. Note: The best dancers always practice the basics to get better and improve their technique!


Mommy/Caregiver & Me class (14months - 2 years): Did you know a 2010 study is Science Daily claimed “babies are born to dance”! They find rhythm and tempo of music more engaging than speech. Music and dance can nurture the pre-verbal phase. This class introduces young children to musicality, physical awareness, and motor exploration. Props and games are used in this class as well. Come have fun and move with you child!

Parent/Guardian must be in class with child. 45 minute class. This class does not participate in recital.


Little Movers (Age: 2-3): This is a fun creative movement class focused on motor skills, exploration, rhythm, musicality, elementary ballet skills, imaginative movements and fun! Little Movers begins to build confidence and independence in your child.

This class is taken without the child’s parent in the room. 45 minute class. 


Ballet/Tap Combo 1 (Age: 3-4): This class introduces and explores basic ballet, tap and creative movement. Students are encouraged to explore their creative side in this class. They will also develop some proper terminology for basic ballet and tap.

45 minute class.


Ballet/Tap Combo 2 (Age: 4-5): This class is similar to Ballet/Tap combo 1. This class explores basic ballet, tap and creative movement. This class introduces more basic ballet and tap technique. Students are also encouraged to explore their creative side in this class. 

45 minute class. 


Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combo I (Age: 5-6): Ballet, Tap, and Jazz technique. Students will learn dance technique, dance movement, dance terminology and proper classroom etiquette. This class is 60 minutes long and alternates each week between Ballet/Tap and Ballet/Jazz.

60 minute class. 


Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combo II (Age: 6-8): Ballet, Tap and Jazz technique. Students will learn dance technique, dance movement, dance terminology and proper classroom etiquette. This class is 60 minutes long and alternates each week between Ballet/Tap and Ballet/Jazz. 

60 minute class. 


Ballet (5-7): Beginning ballet class. This class introduces and explores ballet.

45 minute class. Ages 5-7


Tap (5-7): This is a beginning tap class which the child will learn and explore basic tap.

45 minute class. Ages 5-7


Jazz (5-7): A beginning dance class that focuses on basic Jazz dance skills.

45 minute class. Ages 5-7


Acro: A unique style of contortion, along with choreography, highlighting exaggerated flexibility and core strength. Level 1 introduction begins with rolls, backbends, cartwheels and splits, going into advanced level front and back walkovers, seals, elbow stands and partner "circus style" tricks. This is floor style acrobatics which means without the use of any apparatus.

60 minute class.


Ballet I-II: This class is an hour long structured beginning ballet class in which students will learn basic technique, proper alignment, musicality, choreography, and vocabulary. Students will gain flexibility, strength, coordination and confidence. 

60 minute class.

Two classes for beginners: Ages 7-10 and 10+


Ballet II-III: This is an intermediate level ballet class which is designed for students who already have had previous dance training. This is an hour long structured ballet class in which students build upon their technique, alignment, movement, musicality, and vocabulary.  Students will continue to improve their flexibility, strength, coordination and confidence.  

60 minute class. Must have 1 year previous ballet experience. Students may be in this level for more than 1 year. Please review and sign eligibility requirements form.


Ballet III-IV: This is an advanced level ballet class in which the students will improve and perfect their technique, alignment, choreography, musicality, and vocabulary. Students will continue to gain flexibility, strength, coordination and confidence. 

90 minute class. Must have minimum 2 years previous ballet experience. Must meet eligibility requirements to be in this class. Please review and sign eligibility requirements form. 


Ballet IV (Beginning Pointe): This is an advanced level, beginning pointe class in which students will build upon their technique, alignment, musicality, choreography, and vocabulary. Students will continue to gain flexibility, strength, coordination and confidence. 


60 minute class. 12+ age requirement. Students will be placed in this class by the director/ballet instructor only. Must have an advanced foundation of ballet before students will be allowed en pointe for safety. Students are still growing so the director and/or ballet instructor will make a decision based on eligibility requirements and observation.


Jazz I-II: A beginner level jazz dance class. Focuses on jazz technique, body alignment, jazz vocabulary, movement, and various styles of jazz dance. Usually upbeat rhythm. Students will gain flexibility, strength, coordination, and confidence.

60 minute class. 


Jazz II-III: An intermediate level jazz dance class. Focuses on jazz technique, body alignment, jazz vocabulary, movement, and various styles of jazz dance. Usually upbeat rhythm. Students will gain flexibility, strength, coordination, and confidence.

Jazz III-IV: An advanced level jazz dance class. Focuses on jazz technique, body alignment, jazz vocabulary, movement, and various styles of jazz dance. Usually upbeat rhythm. Students will gain flexibility, strength, coordination and confidence.

90 minute class. Minimum 2 years previous jazz dance experience. Must meet eligibility requirements and/or placed by director/instructor. Please review and sign eligibility requirements form. 


Musical Theater: Dancers will learn how to portray characters and themes through dance. In this class you will dig deeper into the idea of how to become someone else on stage and telling a story through movement and words! This Musical Theater class focuses on execution, precision, identifying as a character, dance technique and learning about what musical theater means.

60 minute class.

Classes for ages 5-8 and 9+.


Tap I-II: A beginning to beginning intermediate tap class that teaches tap technique, choreography, and musicality. Tap combines rhythm with coordination to make music with your feet and body. Explore the two most traditional tap dance forms of Broadway and Rhythm tap. 

60 minute class.


Tap III-IV: An intermediate to advanced tap class that teaches tap technique and musicality. Tap combines rhythm with coordination to make music with your feet and body. Explore the two most traditional tap dance forms of Broadway and Rhythm tap. 

60 minute class. Must have minimum 2 years previous tap dance experience. Must meet eligibility requirements and/or placed by director/instructor. Please review and sign eligibility requirements form. 


Contemporary/Modern/Lyrical I-II: Beginning to intermediate level. Explore a variation of these different dance styles. Must have a strong foundation in ballet and jazz technique. 

60 minute class.


Contemporary/Modern/Lyrical: II-III: Intermediate to Advanced level. Explore a variation of these different dance styles. Must have a strong foundation in ballet and jazz technique.

60 minute class. Must also be enrolled in a ballet or jazz class to sign up for this class. Must meet eligibility requirements and/or placed by director/instructor. 


Hip Hop Kids (Ages 5-7): Hip hop dance refers to basic street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop and pop music. This is a beginning high energy class that consists of cardio, stretching, learning a vocabulary of steps, choreography and combinations. 

45 minute class. 


Hip Hop I-II: Hip hop dance refers to basic street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop and pop music. This is a high energy class that consists or cardio, stretching, learning  vocabulary of steps, choreography and combinations. 

60 minute class. Beginning to intermediate level.


Hip Hop III-IV: Hip hop dance refers to basic street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop and pop music. This is a high energy class that consists or cardio, stretching, learning a vocabulary of steps, choreography, and combinations.

60 minute class. Intermediate to Advanced level.


Dance Team Skills: 5-6-7-8. Work on choreography retention, flexibility, precision movements, technique and basic dance team skills needed to make the team! 

60 minute class. 11+ minimum age requirement. 

Beginning Level & Intermediate/Advanced Level Classes


Leaps and Turns Class: Work on flexibility, building core muscles, and improving on varieties of leaps and turns. In this class you will learn leaps and turns as well as improve your technique on leaps and turns you know already. Challenge yourself to go above and beyond your skill level. 

60 minute class. 


Dance Without Limits: This program is special to the director of the studio with her having a background in special education and dance. The director also grew up with an Uncle who has Down Syndrome. This program was designed so children with special needs, who may not be comfortable or able to dance in a regular dance class, have a place to express themselves through the joy of movement. 

45 minute class.


Adult Beginning Ballet Class: Beginning ballet class for ages 18+. Ever wanted to learn beginning ballet? Or just want to take beginning ballet again? Come have fun and take this beginner, basic skill, ballet class. Great for staying in shape!


Adult Beginning Tap Class: Beginning tap class for ages 18+. Ever wanted to learn to tap? Or just want to take tap again? Come have fun while taking this beginner, basic skill, tap class. 



(Adult Dance) Shake Your Groove Thing!: It’s never too late to shake your groove thing! Dust off your dancing’ shoes, wear comfy clothes and prepare to dance! No experience needed! Just dance to the beat! Exercising and having fun…..who knew?!

60 minute class. Ages 18+
